Sterling Thekkady is situated near the Periyar Tiger Reserve. The proximity to the park makes it a great destination to stay in the wilderness. Periyar National Park is known for the herds of elephants that roam here. It is quite a sight to watch these giants balance themselves on hill slopes and walk effortlessly. The park is also home to plenty of wildlife like bison, sambar, wild boar, langurs and birds. Thekkady is also known for its spice plantations.
